In our third and final year, in the Portfolio Production module, we have to make four short films. Two group projects, and two shorter individual projects. For our first group project we had a maximum of five minutes to make our film. We decided to make an experimental film about a man waking up in a room and reliving past events that push him to and beyond the brink of insanity. We were influenced by Darren Aronofsky's 'Pi' and David Lynch's 'Eraserhead' in terms of visual style and also the use of sound. The style we went for was a high contrast black and white look.
We used three actors from casting call pro and filmed it in a day at the Nag's Head pub in High Wycombe, leaving us with two weeks to edit.

Rock Werchter Festival 2009
I need to update this blog on a more regular basis, but earlier on in the summer a few of us went to Belgium for the Rock Werchter Festival. Were going to go to Reading but couldn't get tickets and I think it was a blessing in disguise to be honest as Rock Werchter was better value for money having four days of music, plus the interesting factor of being in a different country.
The music was great, and the collecting cups in exchange for free cups of alcohol (either Jupiler beer or some cherry/rose beer stuff!) is a great incentive for people to clean up the place. Sure, you might pick up a disease whilst doing it but what can I say it was cost effective! The only downside was the amount of long queues, especially after a couple of us saw Coldplay, it was like a two hour queue back to camp. Also the heat at times was unbearable, I found myself waking up each morning at about eight in a 30+ degrees tent. Still we managed to fashion a sort of shelter across our circle of tents which made life more bearable whilst we waited for the bands to come on.

Year 2 Comedy Sitcom...
Our second comedy assignment of year 2 was to make a fifteen minute episode of a sitcom.
We chose the premise that centred around a man called Rob, whose wife: Ann, has left him for a richer man, Gary. To make matters worse his son now prefers living with Gary, so Rob decides to rob Gary with his best mates Steve and Ben.
Unfortunately we ran short of time to film and edit, and as a result the end product was slightly rushed.

Evening...
Greetings traveller, and welcome to my 'space' where I'm going to try and upload uni work, pictures and general thoughts.
